I must be honest, these last seminars were the ones I looking the forward to seeing!! In the morning, we took a bus to the Wimbledon museum. Prior to the seminar, we were able your the museum as well as take pictures. Afterwords, we were escorted elsewhere to view the presentation about Wimbledon and its role in business. At the seminar, we discovered how Wimbledon has transformed itself in becoming a major marketing powerhouse, and how this has lead them to be successful. It was neat to here about their personal aesthetic on product branding as well as their perspective of how openness is the key to proper marketing strategy.
After that, we got a tour of the various tennis courts and herd some of the fun facts relating to design, maintenance, and general processes. We were then given a free lunch at the cafe and then got back on the bus to Lloyds of London. My group and I gave our presentation while we were driving to Lloyds, so that was quite a ride. =)
Overall, Lloyds of London was one of my favorite seminars, and this is not because this was the company I was covering: it was simply because I found it to be very entertaining. After going through the Lloyds security check, we were lead to a conference room where we reviewed a detailed account of the company’s historical background. We also got an overview of how the Lloyds company structure functions and how this has made them successful over the past 325 years.
Once that was completed we got a tour of the building. As I said before, this was very fun for me because of the fact that there is so much rich history about the firm. Additionally it helps when the leaders possess a good sense of humor!
Since me, Gracie, and Laura were assigned this company, we presented a token of gratitude to the Lloyds of London presenters. They seemed to be pleased!
On a personal note…Later, Gracie and I had some noodles and sashimi in London’s China town!
Now, it’s time to enjoy a free day in London tomorrow!!!!!
