I don’t want to be away from campus all semester. I can’t afford to pay for a full semester abroad. I don’t want to leave my current job. I can’t miss my regular activities for Greek life, sports and courses…
Whatever your reasoning may be, I agree that short-term study abroad programs are great! I studied abroad in Australia for 3 weeks and it was a pivotal time in my life. I gained an unforeseen amount of confidence in myself, I learned so much outside of the traditional classroom and I made friends and networks that will last my entire lifetime.
Years later I now have the pleasure of helping other students study abroad with International Business Seminars as the Marketing and Enrollment Manager. We provide short-term, multi-destination study abroad programs with a focus around general business. I build relationships with my students and work with our Alumni Ambassadors once they return and I can confidently say we have some of the best programs for our future professionals.
You can always travel later in life, but you cannot go back in time and study abroad. There is something special about that experience and I can only hope that every student will be able to take part in something like that. I highly recommend the programs with IBS because we’re able to provide students with extremely applicable experience that is also stunningly unique. I will never forget touring center court and the press room at Wimbledon, or walking through the trade floors of Lloyd’s of London’s insurance market.
There are countless reasons why short-term study abroad programs are perfect, but it’s up to you to make it happen. Figure out what you’re looking for and when you may want to go abroad.
