Celebrating the new year in London last night was a fantastic experience. Almost our entire group of 38 took The Tube out to Leicester Square and went to a club called The Zoo. It was so much fun and the bar luckily had the fireworks that were being shot off from Big Ben and Tower Bridge live streamed onto their TV’s. Earlier in the day, we had a presentation from 3 retired underwriters at Lloyd’s of London. On our way there, we got to walk through the area that was used as Diagon Alley in the Harry Potter films!!! At Lloyd’s we learned an incredible amount about the insurance market and Lloyd’s business. For instance, they have an insurance policy for Polamalu’s hair! How cool?!
This morning, we left London for Paris on the Eurostar train. By the time we got here, it was almost six so we took The Metro to Notre Dame for dinner and a few drinks! Once we got down there, everything was so chaotic and each restaurant had men outside of them shouting out drink deals, blocking the road, and trying to get groups of people to come inside. Finally, we got so sick of the harassment we just decided on a random place… which happened to be Greek! Luckily for me, they still had authentic French Onion Soup, or simply, Onion Soup here. Tomorrow we get to hear a presentation and lunch at the Hard Rock!
